mixmas has been a long standing tradition as a way to introduce friends to new music as well as a review of my favorite songs of the year. music is one of those things that transports you from one location to another through emotion and memory. it has come to be a personal journey through time; an audio autobiography. since inception in 2006, these playlists are built from the music meaningful to the year of publication and have had to fit on a burnable compact disc. those are the only two rules. there are songs i regret putting into mixes, there are songs that i wish i had selected instead of others, but these lists remain as they were posted in december of each year. take a listen.

note: in 2021 i went through and created spotify lists for the years prior to 2018 when i switched listening platforms. there may be a different song selected in the spotify lists from the original mixmas lists due to streaming rights and my affection for early album releases, as well as some non-streamable tracks or ep releases.
